It been almost three weeks with the new meds and things seem to be working. Lost a little weight I guess as I moved the belt in one notch. I also started using a Tens machine for my knee and that also seems to be coming around.
So I made up my mind, no fat tire 40 for me this year. Just with everything that has gone on over the last few months and then the knee, i'm just better staying out of it this year and healing up right for a big push next year on the whole biking front.

Well, that's about it for this week, here's to the hopes your life is improving just like mine.Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-58149184813719957832012-09-04T11:17:00.000-05:002012-09-04T11:17:14.232-05:00Great weekWell so far the week and weekend has been great for me. The new meds are starting to work and it seems so far as we may have a winner. Was able to get back on the bike a do a 30mile ride. Haven't done that in almost 12 weeks. The legs felt pretty good for the 30 miles and the group from Wheel north shore were great.
SO wee will see how things go from this point, week by week not only will I have updates on the meds but also on the weight I have put on and need to take off.

Thanks for all the support from my friends and family and all the great words.

Talk to you soonSpinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-46749582619996432272012-08-22T12:28:00.000-05:002012-08-22T12:28:21.253-05:00Been awhile.Hello all........

Well it been awhile since I've been on here but I figured I might as well use this as sort of a diary for some changes I am going to try to make in my life. It hard to say with everything I have in my life that I wish it was better but I do. I have had to make some changes lately that have not really made me happy but have had to be made.
I don't know if many of you know by I have been battling depression since I was in high school (wow I think that's the first time I've totally let that out). It's been a up and down battle at times but within the last few years it has come to what I believe has been its worst. With different meds and support from family and friends the days have become bearable at times but still the worry of things never goes away. Little things, big things and all the things in between are a major burden with someone with depression.
What most people don't understand is depression changes your whole way of life and how things are handled. Like meds, I have been to the doctor's and been on different meds to help and some do and....... some don't. Like the ones I'm on now, do they help? Yes, but the side effect was a forty five pound weight gain and some pretty drastic mood swings. Is that what I need or want? No. So its back to the drawing board to find something else.
How do you explain to your five year old that Daddy wants to play but can't. I've tried I'm sick, and she makes me some tea from her play tea pot. Its hard all around and I think more people need to know this is out there. Its not something I contracted or got from being sick its just who I am, but not who I want to be.
So that is it, I have depression! I said it, now comes the hard part, what to do about it. Med change is one, but some other things need to be changed to. And with the help of my wife, my daughter, family and friends the line has been drawn for me to follow.
So going forward not only will this blog be about biking its also going to be about the battle to change and take on my life head on.
Hope you come back to read from time to time as its going to be a wild ride.

ThanksSpinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-4145626591069018192010-05-05T08:10:00.002-05:002010-05-05T08:42:26.636-05:00I'm BackWell its been awhile but I'm still here. Life has to take first chair sometimes and as of late it has but I am back on the bike and back to training. The last two months have been good for riding but not what they should have been. I think I have a total of 400 miles in for the last eight weeks kind of sad but better then last year. The good news is in the last two days I have 98 miles in, so my average is up at least.
The weight loss thing has been going OK. I'm down a total of 31 pounds. I was down a total of 35 but life caught up and I put some back on. I guess that's how things go but I feel a lot better then I did last year and I can really tell the difference when I'm in the saddle.
Tess is doing great and growing up so fast. She has been on her tricycle every chance she can and getting better and better every ride. She has told us she wants a to wheeler, surprised????????? Not me, she is my daughter after all. So last week we stopped at the bike shop and she picked the one she likes. So being the bike Dad I am I told her to master the trike and I'll get it for her. I'm hoping she will be on a two wheeler by the end of fall.
Another great step in our healthy family life style is we are riding our bikes together. This has always been a sticking point between Erica and I as she is not fond of having to ride with traffic. But now living in Brown Deer has the traffic much less and we live very close to BD park. This is great for us as we can now go for a ride with Tess in the trailer and we all feel good.
Erica and I have both been eating better and exercising a lot more. I guess when you look at the big picture, do you really want to be a fat parent when your kid is growing up? Well......... we decided NO and were trying our best remember that everyday.
My first race will be Rinelander in two weeks. It should be a good race. I've never done it before so it will be something new. That same weekend will also be the the second annual extreme training camp. So that weekend will be full with riding but will be fun for sure.

See YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASpinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-15164126194313108102010-01-18T15:17:00.000-06:002010-01-18T15:18:07.975-06:00FOR SALEBeautiful, clean and very well maintained just waiting for you. If most of you did not hear about four weeks ago I crashed a Crystal Ridge and dislocated my shoulder. So I have had a long four weeks and before that my fitness was not the best it has been, but........ Last night turned that all around. Lets start with last week. At the ridge the turn out was big, pre Wors race, the plan was just get the laps in and see how the a arm feels. Everything was great until the third lap when for some reason the lights went out and the woods got dark, I mean real dark. The last lap was like riding blind but I finished.
This week I worked a little harder in the single track and tried to hold onto Coop's wheel as long as I could. That worked great until my powertap head unit popped off in the woods right before the alpha trail, so from then it was a catch up game. I think I did pretty good and even tested the climbing speed in my legs on the finish hill.
So all in all not to bad. For three laps it ended up 34minutes,34 minutes and 33 minutes.
I feel the old randy coming back, now lets hope I can carry this into the 40.

See Yaaaaaaaaaaaa................................................Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-41533760716014538392009-08-03T08:13:00.004-05:002009-08-03T08:44:45.286-05:00Extreme at the ridgehttp://www.fox6now.com/news/witi-090802-bike-competition,0,6389199.story
Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-58695544699921559272009-04-13T10:09:00.002-05:002009-04-13T10:14:22.936-05:00Movin TimeThis weekend is the time. While I was in
the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to
clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the
greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen.

Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As they
began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to
their feet with their hands waving and cheering.

When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered
for, it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red-blooded American who
still loves this country and supports our troops and their families.

Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung
heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go
to school, work and home without fear or reprisal.

Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our
service men and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old, ran up
to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said 'hi.'

The little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy for
her.

The young soldier, who didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, s aid he
would try and what did she want to give to her Daddy.. Then suddenly the
little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she
could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.

The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter's name was Courtney,
told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq
for 11 months now As the mom was explaining how much her daughter Courtney
missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up.

When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of
the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other
servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They started playing
with the device and talking back and forth on it.

After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to
Courtney, bent down and said this to her, 'I spoke to your daddy and he told
me to give this to you.' He then hugged this little girl that he had just
met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying 'your daddy told
me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home
very soon.'

The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young
soldier stood t o his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing
no more than 6 feet away from this entire event.

As the soldiers began to leave, heading towa rds their gate, people resumed
their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were
very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of
selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling
down his cheek.

We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and
thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day , it's good
to be an American.

RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red
every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called
the 'silent majority'. We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for
God, country and home in record breaking numbers.

We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media
coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions.. Many Americans,
like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast
majority of America supports our troops.

Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and
respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the
troops all come home, sending a deafening message that.. Every red-blooded
American who supports our men and women afar will wear some thing red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday
a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers.

If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances
co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is
covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once 'silent' majority is
on their side more than ever; certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things
better for you?' is....We need your support and your prayers.

Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear
something red every Friday..

IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON.

I F YOU COULD CARE LESS THEN HIT THE DELETE BUTTON --- IT IS YOUR CHOICE.

WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.

THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED---- SO WEAR RED!Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-20960489324560562852009-02-15T20:44:00.001-06:002009-02-15T20:44:26.487-06:00Great AdSpinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-91871861399346026712009-02-01T13:49:00.001-06:002009-02-01T13:49:59.033-06:00good day
1hr 15 and felt pretty good. power seems to be coming around. A couple of stops to stretch out the legs but all in all the training is coming along well. 216lbs was what the scale read yesterday, that's 19 1/2 down. so I am happy about that. I can now see the goal is reachable and my endurance is starting to come around. 190 by race time? That's the goal and I'm not playing around this year.
Well got to get back to work.
See Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-56024266884440996242009-01-24T08:54:00.001-06:002009-01-24T08:54:18.387-06:00img032

Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-46203857407813225612009-01-24T08:53:00.003-06:002009-01-24T08:53:52.453-06:00img033

Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-36937933694450937582009-01-24T08:53:00.001-06:002009-01-24T08:53:43.003-06:00img034

Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-63720620696254330122009-01-23T16:26:00.001-06:002009-01-23T16:26:44.094-06:00reminder7am to 10am training ride at the shops indoor training center . come one come all. its better then riding alone in the basement.

Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-42777843988327909792009-01-21T16:33:00.001-06:002009-01-21T16:33:21.399-06:00Training daysorry for the late post but Extreme ski and bike is having a training ride tonight in the new training center. grab yor bike and your trainer and stop by. 7pm in the store three to the left of the shop.

Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-67648490288855412932009-01-10T19:11:00.002-06:002009-01-10T19:46:14.256-06:00The sickness has landed<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-xq_sBFbZ1DqsVdz-6WcQXgoriv8NGIcbupj3buiqYxfpQKFFknNakQYhus-gHiAkB9vxnysFcMtqow-egNvgAB4z2yOOscRf4_GYH3_5RzHx90LtcE0imQSZWIdxZF54dsllAA/s400/nose_dispenser.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289845994656246626" />
In our house when the sickness comes it comes in full force. For the last week it has run like a train, the cough is the worst because it just won't go away.
I skipped the swap today, I really wanted to go but we have been on a tight budget since we found out Erica's job is going on hold till next fall. I didn't really need anything anyway so it wasn't to bad. A few days ago my Mom said my Dad found a snowblower for us, found as in as "free"? I guess someone in their neighborhood couldn't get it to start and worked on it but then gave up and tossed it when they got a new one. So he worked on it for a couple day and then gave up, so it was my turn. Stopped over yesterday to take a look at it, plugged in the electric start and it just cranked , no fire but you could hear it try. I tinkered for awhile and then looked into the on/off switch, turned the switch back a quarter of a turn, hit the electric start and low and behold the beast comes to life and runs like a champ. I need to replace one of the rubber snow blades but it works great. So for $30.00 in parts(that I got from Ace today)I never have to shovel again(lets hope).
As i sit here Erica's at work and Tess is tearing apart the front room with all her toys. I'm going to try to get on the bike tonight after Tess goes to bed to see if I can force this shit out of my body. I tried to start the training last Saturday but I really only got about 30 min before I had to get off with a coughing fit. Well lets hope tonight goes better.
Got to go
See YaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaSpinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21957831.post-34629726267010766192009-01-05T14:52:00.002-06:002009-01-05T14:53:24.583-06:00Loooooooooooooong weekendWhat a great long weekend. Got to spend a lot of time with Tess and Erica and get a lot of stuff we have been putting off done. We decided to switch bedrooms with Tess as she has a lot more stuff then we do, so she gets the bigger bedroom. That took most of the weekend as we didn’t rush it, just took our time getting most of it done.
I also got everything set up for the training and the diet plan. The training plan and dungeon are set and ready to go for tomorrow, the start of the secret training plan. As the diet goes, that started today and as I’ve been on this one before. I really don’t mind it, the food is good and sometimes it’s too much, as it seems I’m always eating (like right now, PB and J on a whole grain bagel).
The rest of life is just on auto pilot right now, work is slow so I’m trying to get everything caught up and ready for the busy time of year. Erica is looking for a new job right now because Target on 124th is closing for nine months to do a tear down and rebuild. She will be returning after the rebuild but she really does not want to travel to a new store for that amount of time unless she really has to.
Well that’s about all for now.
See Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.Spinninmudhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07879818923036388381noreply@blogger.com1
